We discovered that ostriches are different colors, such as gray and almost white, but the black and white were our favorites. They were quite shy and most of our pictures are from the rear. |
What a sweet face, watching us leave Etosha. Every lodge has a water hole with bleachers for spectators and floodlights at night. There were about forty people quietly watching when a line of 16 elephants, single file, silently walked up to drink. This baby giraffe is curious about us. This water hole was the only place we saw rhinos. We loved the way the giraffe bends down to reach the water. |

This was the view from the gate at the game park. The park is 26,000 square miles - one of the largest in Africa. |
This
animal has two names: Oryx or Gemsbok. We saw thousands
of them. Their horns just fascinate me. |
The animal in the middle is a warthog. He seems to be the only animal in Africa who likes to move at a trot, even when no one is chasing him. You can also see gemsboks, springboks, and an ostrich, all standing around the water hole. |
We have so many pictures of giraffes that it was hard to choose favorites. But then again, with 640 pictures, we had to do a lot of choosing! |
The black-faced impala is endangered, but we saw hundreds. |
The Springbok is one of the most beautiful and plentiful animals we saw. Sometimes they were alone and sometimes there were hundreds of them. They are so very graceful when they run. |
Behind these tranquil zebras, you
can see several other animals |
